Owl

March 8 2012  On our evening walk I almost stepped on this owl.  It was dark, we had flashlights, and the owl was just sitting there on the trail.  I ran back to the house to get my camera, when we got back to the place we had seen the owl it was gone.  But not far away there it was low in a small nearby tree.  It's an Eastern Screech Owl.  In our woods we have also seen Great Horned Owls, and Barred Owls.

Not very good pictures but it was fun to see this owl.

watch out, that owl seems very angry! How cool to see these animals up close.

stratovolcano, Dad told me to be careful or the owl would swoop down and peck my eyes out. In the last pic the owl was watching Dad walk away. :)

I am so envious of your owls!
It does look scary though.
Does West Michigan have Saw-whet Owls? I saw lots of Robins today. Oh boy, the plants will be bloomin' soon. M :)

M :-) You will have to visit at night, then we could look for owls. I might go out right now, oh I don't know it is pretty dark. There is a Northern
Saw-whet Owl, not sure I've seen one. Thanks for taking the time to visit the blog. :-)

quietsolopursuits, the owl was quite close probably about 5 feet away, I use a Canon Powershot SD1300 camera, so I was able to zoom in on it a bit, but it was totally dark, so well, not very good shots. It was cool to see it so close, thanks for visiting. :)
