Crockery Creek Natural Area - 2026 May 1

Crockery Creek Natural Area is a 331 acre park in Ottawa County with over 2 miles of hiking trails.  Mike and I walked here on a beautiful day May 1st.  It was a cool 48 degrees with clouds and some sun.

It has been cool here in Michigan this May.  Some flowers seem a bit slow because of the cold temperatures but other seem unaffected.  I like the cooler temperatures, so I’m enjoying Spring.

  1. I wonder how long that trillium will take to make as many as there are in Aman park.
That's a lot of Mayapples! They're budded here but no blossoms yet.
I've got to go see the shagbarks if it ever stops raining. 46 degrees today!
    Thanks for another sunny walk!

    1. You are welcome, Allen. In southwest Michigan there is a place called Trillium Ravine Preserve they have many trillium, and several varieties. It is about 95 miles from home so I don’t get there often. Mayapple are just in bud here too, we have had nighttime temperatures in the low 30’s. It really has been good weather here, nice and cool.
